Men supported....
Currently (2023), there are approximately 30.2 million males in the UK (around 6 million in London alone) and a high percentage live with issues (be it health - physical or mental) and in worry, and uncertainty, that prohibits development and resilience. Many men live in poverty (due to unemployment, health, learned habits) and strained situations that cause great stress. A lot of men keep quiet and suffer in silence with depression and anxiety, and many go unnoticed, due to lack of resources - Or simply because they do not speak out due to; Fear - Pride - Lack of communication skills - Lack of social interaction with other men. Unfortunately, thousands of men in the UK committed suicide last year, AND THE NUMBER IS GROWING......
So, how can we help?
The first step to improving male presence, development, identity, and mental health is by education and creating awareness of male issues - And of course by creating a notion (and change attitudes towards) speaking out! Surveys show that a high percentage of men feel alone with their issues and choose to internally over analyse rather than reach out and talk to someone, or ask for opinion/comparison of other men due to pride or embarrassment (as "supposedly" doing so will make them weak - less of a man). Or many simply lack a social network and have no one to turn to (There is also an element of fear of violence, or discrimination in some situations). These beliefs (which are just a mention of a few examples) have led to corrupted views that only aid an individual to 'bottle up' their worries and emotions, which then take form as stress, depression, anxieties, confusions, low self esteem that can erupt in certain ways (e.g. Anger, crime, self destruction, addictions - And, sadly, suicide). There is still a substantial lack of awareness when it comes to ailments and issues (heath related or not) that effect men and Guardian here for you aims to tackle such by facilitating regular, friendly, 'Male talk' sessions open to any male from the age of 18 who wish to attend a safe, non judgemental, environment (Whether to just simply sit in the company of the like minded, to gain clarification of ailments relative, or to make new friends) to talk about that which causes worry/confusion - And to educate. 1-1 sessions will also be available.
Guardian here for you will also host; Regular educational workshops regarding male ailments, health issues, and wellbeing. Arrange school/college (as well as community) inspirational awareness events. And regular male social activities for all to enjoy. For up and coming sessions, events and talks click;
