Group Structure & What To Expect…
Each group follows a basic structure…
A group lasts up to 2 hours and has 2 stages. We follow the same structure each time so everyone knows what to expect. There are always 2 friendly trained facilitators present (sometimes 3 if there is a trainee) who guide and keep things to time.
The doors open 10-15mins before the start time and members will always be welcomed and shown the snack table when they arrive for a soft drink and a biscuit or other treat when available. There will be chairs arranged in a circle and members are expected to be seated for the start time.
The 2 parts of a GHU Group:
CHECK-IN (up to 45mins)
  • Structure explained - Group rules read out - Individual check-in: Members asked name & snap shot of week, or a word to sum it up!
  • New member MAPs completed (what is a member MAP?) and discussion.
  • 10min break.
GET IT OFF YOUR CHEST (up to 1hr.5mins)
  • A place to off load further and share to gain advice, discussion (or not), a sympathetic understanding, peer support - Last 15mins: Check-out where members asked if OK to leave and a question that may be funny or thought provoking to end on a positive note.
GROUP REFLECTIONS are recorded by facilitators throughout for a reflective record.
MEMBER SAFETY always priotisied. Members will be asked from time to time if, OK
NO PRESSURE TO TALK!
Sometimes just being in a space with others who understand can be enough.
